What is your job responsibilities as forklift driver

For all of you who do not know what are your job descriptions as forklift operator, then I will tell you your full job responsibilities. Many of you may say that it is simply loading and unloading of materials. You are wrong! Your assignments extend beyond that. There are more complex responsibilities that you need to handle than just moving of materials.

First, you need to advocate others about safety. Safety has been taught to you when you attended the certification training. It is the number one objective before commencing work. You need to be aware that safety of yourself and others around you is top priority when performing job at high risk work such as driving forklift trucks.

Forklift trucks are very dangerous machine, you do not take it for granted. It is the cause of dozens of fatalities and hundreds of accidents each year. So be careful when operating forklifts.

The second job description you need to know is inventory maintenance and record keeping. You as forklift operator must know where stocks are piled and materials are placed. Being organized is the key to perform well. It is proper arrangement of materials that saves time when locating materials in heavy traffic foot warehouses.

The third you need to know is you are obliged to report any accidents - minor or serious ones- you must report it to your superior so that he can make an accident report. The accident report is important for proper correction so that accident will not happen again. OSHA may require a record of accidents in your warehouse when you are inspected by one of their inspectors.

Your fourth responsibility as forklift operator is to maintain sanitation in the workplace. make Housekeeping a habit. You can do housekeeping every week or depending on your situation, you can do it twice.

Your sixth job description as forklift operator is maintenance of forklifts. You can perform visual inspection, and report accordingly if there a fault. This simple minor fault can lead to severe accident if left unattended. Check the machine fluids, electrical, forks, mast, and other parts of the machine.

After you have completed your forklift training program, all operators will received either or both of these.

The forklift license card is yours to kept in your wallet. You can present that when you want to apply for a job. Your employer will be pleased and you are more likely to receive an offer when you have this.

Forklift License Card 

This certificate is also issued yo successful trainee. This document is bond paper-size certificate that is being given upon completion of forklift training. 

Forklift Certificate 

You can have one of this or both depending on the instructor. Other instructors issued both. But either way, these are proofs of your competency driving the forklift trucks. 

Forklift Running Check

The video presents forklift running check before any operation can be done. At this pre-operation check-up, you need to check the mast, hood, electrical systems, forks, the gas tank (if if's gas powered), the battery. You need to check for oil leak, burnt wire, or any fault. This is part of the safety training. You do not want your machine bug down and cause accidents.

Practical Driving Testing

Here, the video show the practical or hands-on driving of forklift training. This part of the course is crucial when applying for forklift license. The shows how a trainee maneuver the machine in tight spaces.

The trainer is supervising the trainee's performance, so that he evaluate him prior to certification. The trainee must meet the standard set forth by the trainer, otherwise, he will not recommend.
